An Incredible Adventure!
Living life as a follower of Christ has the potential to be the most exciting adventure in the world. Although the adventure is not a one-time event, it is a lifetime journey marked by adventure. There are a variety of positions individuals find themselves in related to this journey.

Seeker = I am interested in Christ but not sure where I stand in relationship to him. I have taken steps toward knowing more about him but I have not launched out as a follower of Christ.

New Follower of Christ = I have embraced Christ as the forgiver of my sins (my Savior) and am committed to allow him to be the leader of my life (my Lord). I am a newborn Christian.

Maturing/Growing Follower of Christ = I am continuing to take steps to grow spiritually. I communicate with God regularly (pray), and I am making attempts to feed myself spiritually (read the Bible.) I take seriously the commands of Christ. I am an adolescent Christian.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

Leading/Growing Follower of Christ = I continue to grow spiritually. I have chosen to follow Christ in good times and in difficult times. I am learning about and using my spiritual gifts to serve others. I desire to lead others and help them grow in their relationship with Christ. I am a mature Christian who is confident in my relationship with Christ.

For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29 NLT

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1

Where are you in relation to this faith journey?

Let's Look at the Big Picture:
Many people, in our world today, stress that all the major world religions teach relatively the same thing. Any in depth study on the matter will clearly show that Christianity differs radically from other world religions. "Every other religious system, however, is essentially a do-it-yourself proposition. Follow this way of life, they say, and you will gain favor with God and eventually achieve salvation. In a sense, other religious systems are sets of swimming instructions for a drowning man. Christianity is a life-preserver."

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

God has a plan for each of our lives. Let's look at some basic principles found in the Bible that tell us about God's plan for our lives.

God loves us and wants us to experience a full and meaningful life. Unfortunately people settle for substitutes for fulfillment and meaning. They look to their career, education, stuff, power and even drugs-only to find that ultimately these do not satisfy.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10

Eventually every one of us chooses our way over God's way. This is not a one time occurrence but happens again and again throughout the course of our lives. We call this sin-to choose our own way-trying to be our own boss.

We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Choosing our way over God's way results in our inability to have a relationship with God. Instead of experiencing the abundant life forever that God wanted for us, we are cut off from him and are spiritually dead.

Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Ephesians 2:1-2

God loves us so much that he sent his own Son into the world to restore our relationship with him. God's love for us does not change when we choose our way over his way. He sent Jesus Christ, his one and only Son, to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. The Bible says that those who believe in Christ, who place their trust, confidence, and hope in Christ receive life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 NIV

...that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19

How Can I Join In On the Adventure?

I admit I have sinned and I want to turn from my self centered way of life. Choosing our way over God's way is sin and has resulted in a chasm that separates us from God. Once we realize we have chosen our way over God's way (sin), we need to admit this to God (confess) and ask him to forgive us. Sometimes the hardest thing to do in life is to admit we have done something wrong.

"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" Mark 1:15

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9 NLT

I believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son. I believe He died on the cross because of my sin and rose again from the dead in order that I might live.

This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. Acts 2:23-24

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NLT

I place my trust in Jesus Christ as the forgiver of my sins (My Savior).

He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:10-12

For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13 NLT

I place my trust in Jesus Christ as the leader of my life (My Lord).

Your life is made up of different areas-family, friends, time, money, job, attitudes, etc. If you enter into a relationship with Christ, then you are asking Jesus to be the leader of your life in the areas of family, friends, time, money, job, attitudes, etc. He desires to be the center of all areas of your life.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:2526

I commit to publicly follow Jesus Christ for the rest of my life.

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus
Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit. Acts 2:38

You may know about Jesus, believe in Jesus, and even experience his love in your life, but you have not crossed the line of faith until you make a deliberate commitment to give him control of your life. God has already done His part to restore our relationship with Him. He took the initiative. Now He waits for each of us to individually accept what He has done for us and commit to follow him for the rest of our lives. Are you ready to cross the line of faith?

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."
John 5:24

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. John 1:12-13

I know it seems unbelievable but by placing your childlike faith, your trust, confidence and dependence in Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you are now a member in God's family. You are now forever secure in his love. We would like to visit with you more about the next step in your faith journey.
